Director of operations

Job Summary:

This position will oversee all aspects of our electrical contracting projects, from preconstruction to completion. This role involves creating and implementing efficient systems and workflows, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the field, a deep understanding of electrical contracting and commercial construction, and a comprehensive knowledge of the markets we serve.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Systems and Workflows: Develop and implement efficient systems and workflows to enhance operational efficiency and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of electrical contracting projects, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Preconstruction and Construction: Manage all aspects of preconstruction and construction phases, ensuring thorough planning and effective execution.
  • Client and Stakeholder Relations: Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure project success.
  • Market Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions to drive business growth and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with senior management to develop and achieve company goals, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of project managers and operational staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Sustainable Systems: Create systems that are self-sustainable and redundant, with succession plans for each department to ensure long-term operational stability.
  • Financial Management: Demonstrate strong financial acumen, managing large budgets and ensuring financial objectives are met.
  • Technology Integration: Integrate and manage various software solutions to streamline operations and improve efficiency. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven experience in electrical contracting and commercial construction.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Excellent understanding of the markets we serve, including mission-critical facilities, airport aviation, and healthcare.
  • Hands-on experience in the field with a transition into contracting.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive operational excellence.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing large budgets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
